We want to know why you think it is important to have Canadian writers, artists, and/or poets. You can choose to focus on one creative Canadian who has impacted you or on creativity in Canada as a whole.
Essays should be under 1000 words and attached as a document file with no identifying labels. There is no minimum word count.
Exceptional entries will be published in a special Blank Spaces publication.
Entry fees (minus our shopping cart fees) will be collected into a prize pool that will be awarded to the top essays in each age category. Prizes will be based on amount of entries received. Do you want to sponsor this contest and help fill up our prize pot? Check out our sponsorship page.
Age categories: 5-8; 9-11; 12-14; 15-18
Children are also invited to submit their artwork for cover consideration. Art should be full colour, without words, completed on an 8.5x11" page, and submitted as a scanned high resolution PDF or JPEG. If your child only wishes to enter the cover contest, please submit via the Cover Contest page.
Deadline to enter is June 20, 2020.
