If you'd like to have your class participate in the Children's Essay Contest, please complete this registration page. You will receive a download link to get a poster and a permission form to be sent home to each child's guardian.
Teachers may enter their class's work in a batch for a discounted entry fee of $20 (entries from up to 35 students). Proceeds from all fees collected for this contest will go into the prize pool to be awarded to the top stories in each age category.
When you're ready to submit your class entries, please do so at the contest page. Scan each story and permission form and attach all entries as a zip file. Alternatively, you could send us an access link to a Dropbox file - or a similar file-sharing system.
Essays should be under 1000 words and attached as a document file with no identifying labels. There is no minimum word count.
Exceptional entries will be published in a special Blank Spaces publication. Every teacher who enters their class will be sent a complimentary copy of the special publication upon its release.
Entry fees (minus our shopping cart fees) will be collected into a prize pool that will be awarded to the top essays in each age category. Prizes will be based on amount of entries received.
Age categories: 5-8; 9-11; 12-14; 15-18
Deadline to enter is June 20, 2020.
If you prefer to send your class entries in the mail, please send to Alanna Rusnak Publishing, 282906 Normanby/Bentinck Townline, Durham ON, N0G 1R0 along with a cheque for $20 made out to Alanna Rusnak Publishing.
